*PreStar Preschool Dance*

PreStar classes are one of our most important programs, this is the foundation for a child’s lifelong love of dance! This program mixes tumbling for strength and flexibility, ballet for grace and tap for coordination and rhythm. This mixture of disciplines keeps our children learning and active throughout the entire class time. (PreStar 2 preschools can also add jazz to their class.) These programs provide a wonderful start to the world of dance.


*Tap*

A rhythmic form of dance that consists of making sounds with the feet. Tap is included in all levels of dance starting with preschool through competition levels. Learning the intricacy of rhythm along with executing the clarity of tap sounds teaches students to use their feet as a percussive instrument.


*Ballet*

The foundation of all forms of dance. Ballet is very important for a dancers development of strength, flexibility, and technique. It is essential to the progress of all dancers and provides the movements necessary to build strength, turnout, and placement as well as grace and fluidity. Though sometimes slow, all levels of dancers must execute these movements every week to provide repetition of proper technique.


*Pointe*

An advanced level of Ballet, which is executed with pointe shoes. This class is only offered to advanced dancers who attend ballet classes. Pointe is a beautiful, graceful dance art. When dancers are at least 12 years of age and have strong enough ankles and muscles, they may begin Pointe work.


*Progressing Ballet Technique*

Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is an innovative body-conditioning and strengthening program developed for students to understand the depth of training muscle memory in achieving their personal best. One of the important elements used in the PBT method is muscle memory which helps to improve students' understanding of core stability, weight placement and alignment. This class uses equipment such as balls & bands.


*Jazz*

A fun, energetic form of dance that includes isolations, stretching, turning and leaping. The basics of jazz are introduced in our Prestar 2 program, 5 year old students can begin taking a full Jazz Class, as well as all other older students. Students of all ages enjoy jazz and should be accompanied by ballet class for optimal learning.

*Lyrical*

This class is a fusion of ballet and jazz. In this class Students learn about the art of expressive dance. Lyrical dance class offers the students the luxury of working on understanding the quality of each movement and how it is expressed to the audience. Younger classes focus on the story telling aspect of the music and movement. Older classes touch on improvisation and choreography. This class allows the dancer to express their emotions and work through the stress of the day.

 

*Contemporary*

An innovative dance style of whats "new" in the dance world. Based on the techniques of todays leading modern dance companies. One of the most creative movements in the dance world, it requires flexibility, strength, an open mind for experimentation and thinking "outside of the box."

 

*Musical Theater*

A mixture of music, dialogue, dance/movement, song and story, this style has been especially noted in outstanding musicals such as Wicked, Hairspray, Chicago, Cats, and many more. This is great for character building, as well as learning to be comfortable on stage.

 

*Hip Hop*

This is a high energy class that uses the latest sounds in rap, R & B, and pop music together with movements influenced by some of today’s hottest video choreographers. Hip-hop encompasses movements that have elements of poppin’, locking, and breaking as well as freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style.

 

*Acro*

A high energy form of dance which consists of tumbling and flexibility. This class takes place on gym mats for safety for beginner levels. Acrobatics includes stretching and strengthening and a variety of tumbling skills.

 

*Stretch/Strength/flexibility*

A class focusing on lengthening and strengthening your muscles to make you more flexible. Flexibility is essential in excelling as an advanced dancer. This Class will also focus on toning muscles and strengthening the body.
